If you’re experiencing the early stages of aging and aren’t ready to undergo an extensive surgical procedure such as a facelift, injectables and fillers may be an excellent option for you. You can receive individualized treatment recommendations by speaking with Dr. Lee in person. Please call our office today to schedule a consultation. We serve patients in Newport Beach and throughout Orange County, California.

Wrinkle Relaxers Vs. Dermal Fillers

Dr. Lee offers two different categories of injectables:

  • Wrinkle relaxers
  • Dermal fillers

Wrinkle relaxers temporarily inhibit contractions by your facial muscles, causing the wrinkles formed by these muscle contractions to relax. As a result, you will experience a reduction in these wrinkles that can last approximately three to six months.

On the other hand, dermal fillers add volume to your face to soften wrinkles and restore a more youthful appearance. These injectables can also be used to plump up thin lips and add definition to facial features such as your cheeks or jawline.

Benefits of Injectable Treatments

The benefits of your treatment will vary based on if you receive a wrinkle relaxer or dermal filler treatment. Some of the benefits of treatments include:

  • Add volume to areas including the lips, cheeks, and chin
  • Soften wrinkles
  • Turn the clock back on aging
  • “Fill in” wrinkles or folds
  • Minimal downtime
  • No incisions or anesthesia

Dr. Lee will evaluate your unique signs of facial aging in order to recommend the right option to achieve your aesthetic goals.

Types of Injectables Offered by Dr. Lee

Dr. Lee offers Restylane®, one of the most popular dermal fillers available. It is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin. This filler adds volume to your skin in order to smooth wrinkles and restore a more youthful appearance. It is an excellent option to treat:

  • Nasolabial folds (lines that extend from your nose to the corners of the mouth)
  • Moderate to severe facial wrinkles
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Hollows under the eyes and tear troughs
  • Fine lines on the upper and lower lip
  • Thin lips that can benefit from added volume

Your Restylane injections can be completed in under 30 minutes. Once the filler is injected into the treatment region, it will interact with the water in your skin cells to restore lost volume and improve hydration. The end result is a revitalized facial complexion. There is no downtime, so you will be able to resume all activities right away. Restylane typically lasts approximately six to nine months. For longer-lasting results, you will need to return to our office for follow-up treatments.

Dysport® is a popular wrinkle relaxer. It can help to temporarily treat the appearance of:

  • Forehead lines
  • Glabella lines (lines between the eyebrows)
  • Crow’s feet (fine lines in the corners of the eyes)
  • Frown lines
  • Smile lines

Dysport treatments are quick, comfortable, and don’t require any downtime. Treatment sessions can usually be completed on your lunch break, and you can resume all regular activities, including work, immediately after the procedure. Results typically take about a week to become visible and often last three to six months. Repeated treatments are required for more long-lasting results.

Injectables Recovery

One of the primary benefits of injectable treatments is minimal recovery time. Once your treatment is complete, you are free to resume most normal activities. You may experience some slight bruising, swelling, redness, or pinprick bleeding in the area. This will resolve on its own within a few days.
