Age, gravity, and weight fluctuations can all play a role in the appearance of your backside. Over time the buttocks can begin to sag, slowly shifting from their original position, and end up much lower than you would prefer. Board-certified plastic Dr. Richard H. Lee has a solution. He can perform a buttock lift to help reposition your buttocks, leaving you with a more pert and toned backside.

What Is a Buttock Lift?

A buttock lift is a surgical procedure that can reposition and lift the buttocks. This procedure does not add volume or increase the size of the buttocks but instead raises it. During the surgery, excess skin and fat are removed from the area, and the remaining skin is repositioned to create a more lifted appearance.

Who Is a Candidate for a Buttock Lift?

The first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Lee to determine if you are a candidate for the procedure. During your consultation, he will review your medical history and evaluate the area to determine if you are a candidate. Once this is complete, he will develop a customized treatment plan to address your areas of concern.

Although the best way to determine if you are a candidate is through a consultation with Dr. Lee, you may be a candidate for a buttock lift if you have:

    • Lost a significant amount of weight recently and are now at a stable weight
    • Excess fat along your buttock you wish to remove that hasn’t responded to diet and exercise
    • Been unhappy with the appearance of your buttocks
    • Sagging or excess skin along the buttocks

    Buttock Lift vs. Butt Augmentation

While a buttock lift and augmentation may sound similar, they are two unique procedures. Buttock augmentation is designed to add volume to your buttock, increasing its size and shape. A buttock lift is only meant to enhance the position of your buttock. During your consultation with Dr. Lee, he can ensure that a buttock lift is the best procedure to meet your goals or recommend alternative options.

    Benefits of a Buttock Lift

The primary benefit of a buttock lift is a more lifted and toned backside. While this procedure is not designed to add volume, lifting the buttocks can create a substantial impact on your appearance. This can help you appear more youthful, fit, and toned.

    Your Buttock Lift Procedure

A buttock lift is performed using general anesthesia. This allows you to remain relaxed and pain-free during the surgery. Dr. Lee will create an incision along the buttocks to access the underlying tissue. The exact size and placement of the incision will depend on your anatomy and goals for the procedure. Incision placement will be discussed with Dr. Lee during your pre-surgery appointment.

Dr. Lee will remove excess skin and fat from the area through the incision. He may reposition some underlying tissue to ensure a natural shape. Once this is complete, the areas will be lifted and held in place. After this, the incisions will be closed, and the area will be wrapped in bandages.

    Your Recovery and Results

After the procedure is complete, you will be able to recover at home. It is important to limit physical activity and rest as much as possible during this time. Dr. Lee will provide you with a complete guide to your recovery, including how to care for your incisions and future scars.

Most patients require at least one week off from work and return to more strenuous activities after three to four weeks. You may also need to limit the amount of time you spend sitting or laying down to help your buttock recover.
