What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical body contouring procedure designed to remove stubborn pockets of fat from targeted areas of your body. Dr. Lee makes a very small incision on or near the treatment area during the liposuction procedure. The incisions are discreetly made in parts of your body that can be concealed easily by clothing or your body’s natural shape. Then, after inserting a thin, hollow tube called a cannula through the incision, Dr. Lee gently removes the unwanted fat with suction.

In most cases, Dr. Lee performs tumescent liposuction. This liposuction technique involves injecting a tumescent solution made of a saline solution (sterile saltwater), lidocaine (a local anesthetic), and epinephrine (a medication that temporarily shrinks blood vessels) into the targeted area before removing the fat to minimize swelling, bleeding, and bruising. Dr. Lee closes the incisions with dissolving sutures that do not require removal.

Liposuction FAQs

Can liposuction target multiple areas of the body at once?

Is there a difference between liposuction for men and women?

What is the role of compression garments after liposuction?

Can liposuction target multiple areas of the body at once?

Yes, liposuction can be performed on several areas during the same procedure, such as the abdomen, thighs, and arms, depending on your needs and overall health. This allows for more comprehensive body contouring in a single session.

Is there a difference between liposuction for men and women?

While the technique is similar for both, men often focus on different areas such as the chest, flanks, or abdomen. Men also tend to have denser fat, which may require slight adjustments in the liposuction approach to achieve the desired outcome.

What is the role of compression garments after liposuction?

Compression garments help reduce swelling, support healing, and aid in skin retraction following liposuction. They also ensure that the treated areas adapt smoothly to their new contours, improving overall results.
