Gynecomastia is swelling of the breast tissue in boys or men, caused by an imbalance of the hormones estrogen and testosterone. This condition may result in tender or painful breast regions and may lead to swelling of the breasts. At times, this condition is temporary; however in other cases it becomes a long-term condition. Hormone imbalances and obesity are the leading causes of gynecomastia. Sometimes the use of certain medications can lead to enlarged breast tissue. Other possible conditions that can lead to gynecomastia are chronic liver disease, kidney failure, genetic effects, marijuana use and aging.

Dr. Richard Lee, M.D. is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia. He understands that gynecomastia is an emotionally and physically painful condition that males can face. At times, gynecomastia will correct itself during puberty but for others you may need to seek medical help to make this condition disappear.

Plastic surgery to correct gynecomastia can be done through either liposuction and/or breast tissue excision. If you would like more information or want to set up a complimentary consultation to meet with Dr. Richard Lee to discuss your options in greater detail please contact our office Monday thru Friday at (949)548-9312.
